Bottom line is that I was very dissatisfied. I felt that I was lied to in order to try and capture a new patient. I would never take any of my pets to this facility again and would caution anyone thinking of doing so to make absolutely certain that they are willing to do what they promise and at a price that they promise. All in all it was a very bad experience.
Friendly staff, and knowledgeable, always have our pets interests before ours...and that's ok.
Last year the adopted stray (a mixed breed with some Yellow Lab and Doberman physical characteristics) began to have her own incontinence problems and our new Vet from Lone Peak Animal Hospital in Draper prescribed Estrogen pills for her. At first they were working fine but eventually they topped being effective. I asked the vet for an Estrogen shot for her and the Vet said that she didn't have it and couldn't do it. I then called around and found that most all of the Vet Offices in Draper did not have it . So I looked at Vet Clinics in other towns and the Sandy Animal Clinic said they did have it and that I should bring her in. The Office person had put be on hold to personally check with the Vet and returned to the phone to confirm that they in fact had them and could administer the injection. A caller from the office who contacted me the day before the appointment reaffirmed that they could give her an Estrogen injection.
I am sure it must be frustrating to have owners say they do not care, when I know for a fact that they do. Owners need to realize that they are a clinic, like when you go to your family doctor. They are not an ER. I would never dream of taking my kids to my family doctor when they have a bad fever and it is last minute. I take them to Urgent Care, where they are designed for walk in emergency cases. Having said that though I have been impressed that Sandy Animal Clinic always try to squeeze a pet in when they can. Thanks again for all you do - keep up the good work.
Let me just say that Dr. Edmonds is a 5 star doctor. Went to him for my dogs ear crop, and he did a fantastic job. This one star rating however, is for his staff. After the crop, they did very little to help. They are instructed to post the ears but the posts will fall out as soon as you walk out the door. My dog wasn't even trying to get them off. Receptionist Nicki was the biggest problem, as she was the one who was always in a bad mood. Maybe get a job you like doing? Had to go to South Mountain to finish posting my dogs ears. As long as that receptionist is there, I will not go back there.
It is 9/23/17 7:10PM Currently sitting with my frozen pup. He died on 9/21/17. To an unsuccesful surgery. It made him more sick than he already was. This dog of mine will hold a very special place in my heart. We bring him home and he is the happiest dog ever. 24 hours later he is gone. They tell me they did everything for him. You could of done more. Not to get snappy with my sister when she asked if she was in the right place. Your staff where more worried about putting info in the computer than taking my dying dog into emergency operations. I now get to live with him not being here anymore. I'm still trying to figure out why they couldn't save him. At the end I do not recommend this animal clinic. 0 customer care. But are happy to take your thousands and thousands of dollars. Dash could of lived on to another 6 years. But there main focuse was not on my dying dog but a transaction and a snappy attitude seem to suffice. my dog is now dead no sense of urgency I believe they put him on a table and let him die!! Thank you for an unpleasent experience. Not even a concern to my younger brother. just a simple sorry. To the point where they wanted us out!!!! A huge malpractice and wrong doing to such an innocent little doggy!!!
We scheduled the appointment, I rearranged my appointments and other conflicts on my schedule. a few days later I loaded up my dog and took her to the Sandy Clinic... they had me fill out forms, and they weighed the dog again (I had just had her go through a series of injections and an overall physical) took her temperature, and then told us to weight for the Vet. About 10 minutes later the Vet inters the room, sits down and informs me that they don't do injections and that the only thing that they could and would do was offer the same pills that she had been taking.
I wanted to write and let everyone know that this is a great clinic. I hate when I read reviews on many sites that say veterinarians and their staff are in it for the money. Out of all the medical fields, veterinarians and technicians get paid very little. They truly get into the profession for their love of animals. This is absolutely the case with those at Sandy Animal Clinic. They truly love animals. They are very helpful and knowledgeable and always want the best for my dogs.
Two years ago we relocated to Draper, UT from Texas. We brought with us our dog who had adopted us about 8 years ago. At the time she came to us she had some terrible leg and shoulder injuries and we nursed her back to health with the help of our Vet in Chandler, TX. The Vet estimated the adopted Stray's age to be about 5 or 6 years old. At the time that we acquired her we also had a very old black lab mix female who was probably on the last year or two of her life.as she was 13 years old. The Black Lab had begun to have incontinence problems and the vet gave her an Estrogen shot to slow it down which in fact it did until she passed away about a year later.
I told them that they had pretty much lied to us and messed up our schedule for a week and led us along to get us in their clinic . I then grabbed the leash and let the dog back to the car and drove away.
